Shanghai, 21 August 2024. International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has successfully launched the company’s first series production of 48V battery management system in China. FORVIA HELLA supplies the product to a well-known battery supplier in China, which will integrate it into 48V lithium battery pack and deliver it to an established European automaker. The series production of the battery management system starts in China in the second quarter of this year.

"FORVIA HELLA fully supports its customers' zero-emission ambitions and provides comprehensive product solutions for all stages of electrification. With over 15 years of design and manufacturing experience in the field of battery management systems, along with a global network of R&D design centers and manufacturing plants, FORVIA HELLA has demonstrated strong technical capability and market presence”, says May Deng, Head of the Product Center Energy Management at FORVIA HELLA’s Business Group Electronics in China. “Its 48V battery management system has found wide application in hybrid electric vehicles and has shown promising market prospects in international markets. This launch of the 48V battery management system marks a significant milestone for FORVIA HELLA in the Chinese market. As a comprehensive system supplier, FORVIA HELLA not only drives the transformation towards electrification and sustainable development in the automotive industry, but also provides innovative solutions and robust localization support for Chinese enterprises seeking to expand globally."

The 48V battery management system from FORVIA HELLA can significantly optimize energy efficiency for various types of vehicles, thereby enhancing vehicle performance and safety, and creating a more comfortable, environmentally friendly, and efficient driving experience for end users. For hybrid vehicles, the system optimizes the engine workload based on different driving conditions through functions such as brake energy recovery and acceleration assistance, allowing the engine to operate in the optimal range. It thereby significantly improves the energy efficiency of the vehicle. At the same time, its enhanced power output capability allows the vehicle to carry more loads, such as air conditioning and electric power steering, and provides additional power for hybrid vehicles to achieve faster and smoother acceleration, further enhancing the driving experience. In addition, the system has self-monitoring capabilities, which can effectively prevent short circuits, battery overcharging, and overheating without the need for additional voltage protection devices, demonstrating higher reliability. Through the application of the 48V battery system, the diameter of the vehicle wiring harness can be reduced, resulting in cost and weight optimization.
