The brake pad on the piston side with version 8DB 355 009-121 / T1215, has been fixed to the piston using clasps (A) "Mouse traps" for the purpose of avoiding noise and vibration. The technician must practice great care when assembling.
Resulting from assembly faults, the clasps do not engage completely on the piston which leads to extreme tilted wear and increased noise levels.
Some vehicle manufacturers have reworked this system and have introduced a changed brake pad.
New: 8DB 355 011-731 / T1489
The equipment of the new brake pad differs significantly from its original version but can be used without question.
Note:
Brake pads with retaining spring (B) must be installed in the brake caliper on the piston side.
