Motor dies shortly after starting

The above vehicles can experience the engine dying shortly after it has started. This could be caused by a malfunction of the immobiliser.

Voltage pulses when starting the ignition can occasionally cause faults in the instrument cluster.

This could then affect the data exchange between the instrument cluster and the immobiliser. If the fault memory has codes like:

17978 (P1570) = engine control unit, immobiliser blocked

or / and

18058 (P1650) = data bus, instrument cluster - no signal

stored in it, this could indicate a faulty instrument cluster. In this case, the fault could be remedied by replacing the instrument cluster with a modified one.

Please note that a suitable diagnostics device must be used to reprogram the immobiliser when the instrument cluster is replaced.
