Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)

Engine control light is on

Vehicle has power loss

Error code:

4507, EGR air mass is too low

4501, EGR air mass is too high

4CAE, power loss

This information applies to vehicles with a 5-pin connection to the EGR valve.

If one or more of the above problems are identified on these vehicle models, this may be associated with a defective EGR valve. In this case, the EGR valve, wiring harness, and the 5-pin connector to the EGR valve should be checked, repaired or replaced.

Defective EGR valves must be replaced with a modified spare part by the vehicle manufacturer.
