Airbag indicator lamp lights up

The criticism has been made that the airbag indicator lamp lights up in the above vehicles.

The following error codes may also be stored:

  • B001A 02 (synonymous with: Ignition circuit armature driver's seat belt tensioner, short-circuit to ground)
  • B001B 02 (synonymous with: Ignition circuit armature passenger seat belt tensioner, short-circuit to ground)

A possible cause could be a damaged cable strand in the airbag system (in the area of the rail system of the front seat adjustment).

Check the cable strand for damage. In doing so, check in particular for signs of abrasion.

If a cable strand is laid incorrectly (marked in figure 1), it may be damaged.

The work listed below must only be carried out by a specialist garage with the corresponding expertise.

  • Replacing the belt tensioner unit
  • Re-installation and fastening of the cable strand

(make sure the cable strand is correctly installed)
