Power steering failure

ESP indicator lamp lights up

If the above-mentioned problem is detected, a possible cause may be a faulty control unit of the power steering system.

Repair notes

In order to exclude other possible causes of malfunction, electrical and mechanical system tests (in accordance with vehicle manufacturer specifications) and also a fault code query using a suitable diagnostic unit should be carried out.

The following error codes can be set.

-C05D6 Power steering control unit, processor error

-U0131 Data bus, power steering control unit, no communication

If there are no further errors diagnosed, the control unit must be replaced.

It may be necessary to recalibrate the zero position of the steering wheel.

IMPORTANT

Please note that such repair work should only be carried out by an authorised specialist workshop and that the vehicle manufacturer's repair and maintenance instructions are to be observed!
