A software weakness in the engine control unit of the Nissan X-Trail causes the engine check lamp to light up
A software weakness in the engine control unit can cause the engine check lamp to suddenly light up while driving and error code P1489 to be stored in the control unit.
The error can be corrected by means of a software update. Prior to performing the update, electrical and mechanical sources of error should first be excluded. Contacting a Nissan workshop is advisable.
