Battery is insufficiently charged and vehicle can come to a standstill as a result

If the above-mentioned problem occurs, the cause could be an insufficiently charged starter battery. Due to the different specifications of the engine control unit and the PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) control unit, it is possible for the communication between these control units to be faulty.

This, in turn, can lead to an insufficiently charged starter battery.

Note:

Components under high voltage.

When working on high voltage components (HV), it is absolutely essential that the complete vehicle electrical system is switched off and voltage-free beforehand. Only specially qualified persons may carry out this work (experts in working on HV intrinsically safe systems in vehicles).

Remedy:

In an authorized specialist garage, have the software of the control units updated and the spark plugs replaced.

Internal campaign code: R30331 11

This is documented in the service book.

The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified the owners of all the models concerned. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or rectified.
