Cruise control stops working due to internal defects in the steering wheel coil spring
The cruise control in the above vehicle type may sporadically stop working. The reason for this fault may be an internal defect in the steering wheel coil spring.
There are ribbon cables in the coil spring that can break due to continual stress caused by turning the steering wheel. Depending on the position of the steering wheel, contact is briefly made or broken, which results in an error message. Contacting problems in the plug connections can also be the cause here.
Because this error is sporadic, it is difficult to detect the line break by measurement.
If the above defect is present and no defect is found in the periphery of the speed control, replacing the winding spring can remedy the situation. In some cases, a steering wheel wiring harness must also be replaced. Please follow the vehicle manufacturer's repair instructions.
Once the cause of the fault has been rectified, delete the error memory then carry out a test drive.
