Ford Focus ST: poor engine running with increased oil consumption

If poor engine running with increased oil consumption is observed in the vehicle models mentioned above, then a possible cause may be defective crankcase ventilation. In some cases, a buzzing or whistling sound has also been heard.

Noise detected from the engine compartment. If the noise changes after opening the oil filler cap when idling, it must be assumed that there is a defect. Due to a defective diaphragm, it is no longer guaranteed that the oil circuit is separated from the crankshaft gases. Engine oil thus enters the intake tract and causes the problems described above.

IMPORTANT

On these models, the crankshaft ventilation and the oil filter housing form one unit and must be completely replaced in the event of damage. This defect may also occur in other vehicles with the same type of engine.
