Ford Focus 1.6i 16V - Instrument cluster failure

If the displays on the instrument cluster fail at the same time as poor acceleration behaviour is detected in the vehicle models mentioned above, one cause may be a defective wiring harness in the area of the right-hand A-pillar. There may be contact resistances at the plug connections on the wiring harness going to the dashboard, causing this defect.

In addition, the following symptoms may also occur:

  • Performance loss
  • Poor starting behaviour
  • Starter temporarily without function
  • Sporadic illumination of all indicator lamps on the instrument cluster
  • By switching the ignition off and on, the defect may be eliminated for a short time

If other causes have already been ruled out during the fault diagnosis, the wiring harness and the plug connections should be checked and repaired or replaced if necessary.

Please note

Please follow the repair instructions from the vehicle manufacturer in this regard.
