Fiat Punto 199: engine stalls, engine does not start

In the vehicles mentioned above, a broken cable in the engine wiring harness can cause the engine not to start or to stop while driving.

To remedy this, the wiring harness leading from the engine control unit to the ignition coil or to the injection valves should be checked(Fig. 1). The insulation must be removed for this purpose. The shrink sleeves should be paid particular attention. Vibration can cause the cables to break at this point (Fig. 2).

The error memory may contain various error codes that relate to the ignition or injection valves. The error often occurs sporadically.
