Complete discharging of the battery

If complaints are made regarding the above-mentioned vehicles that the battery runs down when the car is stationary for longer periods of time, this problem could be the result of a defective fuel filter heating unit.

A faulty contact would mean that the battery is permanently supplying the fuel filter heating system with power. This results in a discharging of the battery when the vehicle is kept stationary for a longer stretch of time.

It is also possible that connections in the engine compartment could begin to smoulder, a situation which could in the worst case lead to a fire breaking out in the engine.

The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified owners of all the models concerned. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.

Fuel filter heaters can be replaced in specialist garages.
