Engine does not start - error code P302C stored

Engine starting problems may occur sporadically with the above-mentioned vehicle type. Error P302C and/or P0087 "Pressure on high-pressure fuel system too low" stored in the error memory of the engine control unit.

If no direct fault is found in the periphery of the fuel system during troubleshooting, a possible cause of the fault may be a defective fuel pump relay.

In this case, the supply voltage is to be checked directly at the fuel pump using a suitable measuring device.

To do this, please proceed as follows:

  • Expose the plug connection on the fuel pump
  • Connect the measuring tips to the plug connection of the fuel pump on the vehicle side in accordance with the circuit diagram
  • Switch on the ignition and start the engine
  • At least 12 volts of supply voltage should be present here when the engine is started
  • If no supply voltage can be measured, the fuel pump relay should be first replaced
  • Then repeat the measurement

On this vehicle type, the fuel pump relay is located behind the side section of the rear seat’s backrest on the right in the direction of travel.

Once the cause of the fault has been removed, delete the error memory and then finally carry out a test drive.

IMPORTANT
Please always observe in such cases the maintenance and repair notes provided by the vehicle manufacturer.

In certain cases, this information can also apply to other vehicle series.

For your own safety and the safety of other road users, test and trial drives must always be carried out with a second person (driver) present.
