Power steering becomes sporadically stiff when manoeuvring or parking

With the above-mentioned vehicle type, the power steering may suddenly become stiff when manoeuvring or parking. The reason for this fault may be that the overheating protection has been incorrectly activated. As a result, the electric power steering switches to a safety mode that severely restricts its functionality.

If the above fault is present, this may be related to an error in the map of the installed software version of the electric power steering. This problem can be remedied by carrying out a software update. Check the software version of the electric power steering and update if necessary.

A software update can be carried out via Hella-Gutmann macsRemote Services, for example, or by using a pass-through capable diagnostic device from the mega macs series. Furthermore, registered access to the vehicle manufacturer's online portal is required. If the appropriate equipment is not available, please contact an authorised specialist workshop.

This defect may also occur in other models with the same type of power steering.

IMPORTANT

Please always follow the repair instructions from the vehicle manufacturer when carrying out such work!
