CELL MONITORING UNIT

Lithium-ion cells have to be monitored constantly. The cell monitoring unit measures voltage and temperature of the cells to ensure a safe operation.

 

FUNCTIONS AND FEATURES

  • Measurement of cell voltage in each cell of a lithium-ion battery module and battery temperature
  • Can independently balance cells and protects the weakest cells against overload and run-down

    ADVANTAGES

    • No software containing component (robust architecture)
    • Cost savings: communication over a two-wire daisy chain connection
    • Range extender through cell balancing
    • Less wiring: more cell measurement boards can later be connected in series to an ECU (battery management unit)
    • Variants: Outer housing with cable connection for battery, battery installation with spring or press-fit connection (more compact)
