In 1993 HELLA used LEDs as a light source in a center high-mounted stop lamp for the first time. This was the first use of light emitting diodes in vehicle exterior lighting. Since then, the market for small lights has changed. Today, it is possible to approximate the design of the center high-mounted stop lamp to that of the combination rear lamp using various optical elements. Furthermore, a special anti-theft device does not have to be used for license plate lamps because it is no longer necessary to change the light source. Along with the signal functions in the vehicle rear end, small lights integrated into the vehicle front end play an important role in the HELLA portfolio. As such, functions like position lights, direction indicators and/or daytime running lights, which were previously integrated into the headlamps, are installed as separate lights in the vehicle front end. This reinforces the trend toward customization.
HELLA provides a comprehensive portfolio for all of these products. Thanks to our many years of experience, we are able to develop cost-efficient solutions based on standard components but also products customized to the customer's design.
