LEDs are becoming more and more popular as light sources in the field of interior lighting, as in other sectors. Already a long-established fixture of the instrument panel, these lights can now also be used for interior lighting and reading lamps, thanks to steady gains in the power and versatility of white and colored LEDs – which also offer low power consumption compared to filament bulbs. This opens up a whole range of decorative design possibilities for the cockpit in addition to the functional lighting aspect.
Complex functionality in the tiniest of spaces is one of the core competencies showcased in HELLA’s roof consoles. Thanks to a number of factors, not least among them the advanced development of LED technology, and to our ability to combine solid electronics development with precise lens design right here inhouse, we have repeatedly produced milestones in the field of highly integrated functional centers in the headlining, central control units for controlling interior lighting and reading lamps, ambient incident lighting, blinds, sliding roofs and interior monitoring systems.
As design space shrinks, filament bulbs are literally being squeezed out of their standard places. Increasingly powerful and versatile LEDs now enable outstanding lighting properties in very tight spaces. The flattest reading lamp in the HELLA product range has a maximum depth of only 8 millimeters. When combined with high-grade reflector and lens designs, this enhances the quality of interior lighting and reading lamps to levels hardly ever seen before.
As in architectural lighting, we use the term “ambient light” to describe a low light level that helps us to perceive the surrounding space. It also serves a decorative function, and skillful ambient light design can emphasize specific interior design features or achieve surprising effects when these lights are used unexpectedly behind translucent material. Here, as in many other segments, HELLA sets bench-marks with state-of-the-art LED and light guide technology.
Our range of small and ultra-small lamps ranges from the footwell to the glove compartment and from the luggage compartment to the vanity mirror lamp.
Together, lamps for universal use and application specific lamps form the basis for HELLA’s years of lamp development experience. Reliable design and the use of processes that help to conserve natural resources and reduce environmental impact guarantee excellent value for money.
The term “radome” comes from aerospace technology and describes the cover (dome) in front of a radar system. This is usually attached visibly in a vehicle’s radiator grille. It protects the sensitive radar head from external influences, yet still provides guaranteed and optimized radar transparency at the same time.
HELLA is a world leader in sustainable, precision development and production of radomes, and uses the latest 3D visualization tools to support customers in implementing individual styling ideas.
As the manufacturer of the world’s first high-mounted stop light using LED technology, HELLA has years of experience in manufacturing lighting electronics. We leverage this know-how in the development and production of electronic components for lighting control. Examples include contactless switches and interior sensors.
