Peugeot 407 - Faulty particle filter regeneration | HELLA

Peugeot

407

Diesel engine with FAP particle filter.

With tow hitch.

Oil dilution.

Faulty particle filter regeneration.

On the vehicles listed above, there may be malfunctions in the regeneration sequences of the particle filter if the wiring harness for the tow hitch is connected incorrectly.

In addition, oil may be diluted due to the incorrect regeneration (after-injection).

In the event the characteristics listed above are present, the regeneration sequences absolutely must be checked to avoid drastic oil dilution that could result in engine damage.

Please note:

The trailer electrical system uses the CAN bus to communicate with the control unit for the tail lights, which are, in turn, integrated into the vehicle's on-board electronics via CAN bus.

In original Peugeot tow hitch cable sets, a plug marked in yellow has to be connected to the BSR control unit (trailer switch unit). The plug with a double cable assignment has to be connected to the control/rear switch unit (PSF2).
