ABS/ESC warning lamp activates while vehicle is being driven and error code C1130 is stored
The ABS/ESP warning lamp may light up sporadically on the above-mentioned vehicle series. After a restart, the warning lamp initially goes out again, but is reactivated after a short driving time.
Error code C1130 "Engine control unit - signal faulty" is stored in the error memory of the ABS/ESP control unit.
When this happens, there can sometimes also be a loss of performance.
In such a case, a connecting pipe clogged with exhaust residue may be the cause. The result is that the engine control unit sends the ABS/ESP control unit an incorrect torque signal and the warning lamp is activated.
The connecting pipe, which runs from the exhaust pressure sensor to the exhaust manifold, should be dismantled in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and checked for excessive deposits caused by exhaust residues. The banjo bolt for fastening the connecting pipe to the exhaust manifold must also be checked for exhaust residue.
If the above-mentioned defect is detected, cleaning the connecting pipe and replacing the banjo bolt can remedy the situation.
Once the cause of the fault has been removed, delete the error memory and then carry out a test drive.
