This is how you perform an emergency release of the electromechanical parking brake on a Mazda CX5
Vehicles equipped with an electromechanical parking brake have an emergency release that allows the workshop to release the parking brake if the system fails.

- Secure vehicle against rolling away
- Release the parking brake
- Disconnect battery
- Disconnect the electrical plug connections on the actuators of the rear axle brake callipers
- Undo and remove the screws on the actuator
- Carefully remove the actuator from the brake calliper
- Turn the spindle drive (1) in the brake calliper counterclockwise with a suitable tool until the brake pads have come off the brake disc and the brake is free to move.
