Failure of the fuel pump.

If the engine stalls and cannot be restarted in the vehicle listed above (production period: 28 September 2004 to 28 February 2006), the cause may be a defect in the fuel pump.

Opening the filler cap changes the pressure ratios in the fuel tank. This sets the electrical connection of the fuel pump into motion. The cable material is not flexible enough to lastingly compensate for these movements, which ultimately results in breakage of the line and failure of the fuel pump.

The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified owners of affected models. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.

The electrical connection is replaced by a revised and improved variant at specialist garages.
