Stop light permanently illuminated

If the problem described above is determined, the cause could be a faulty ball head on the brake pedal.

If the driver accidentally raises the brake pedal, the stop-lamp switch (Item 2 on image) can be switched to permanently actuated due to a faulty ball head (Item 1 on image).

This can lead to the brake light being permanently illuminated.

Remedy:

In an authorized specialist garage check the foot lever (brake pedal) and completely replace in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications, if necessary.

The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified owners of all models affected. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.
