If the radiator fan in the vehicles mentioned above does not switch off, this may be due to a software error or a faulty ECU.
Faulty control of the fan control unit can lead to premature failure. This results in the fan not switching off when the ignition is switched off.
To remedy this, the engine control unit is updated and, if necessary, the radiator fan control unit replaced.
The ECU is located between the transmission and
the wheel arch liner (see figure).
This modification is a service action (24AK), and is recorded in the vehicle's service log.
