If a loss of power is detected in the air-conditioning system of the above vehicles, this may be caused by a loss of refrigerant at the oil filler screw on the compressor.
In order to remedy this, first take an use an electronic leak indicator to confirm that there is a leak at the oil filler screw. If there is no longer any refrigerant in the system, the leak test can be performed using forming gas and a special electronic leak indicator.
In order to access the filler screw, you will first need to remove the bottom engine cover. Once you have done this, detach the connector of the exhaust-gas temperature sensor and move the charge-air cooler cable to one side. The screw can now be replaced with a modified variant (with black dot). Before doing this, make sure that there is no longer any refrigerant in the system.
Once the screw has been replaced, the system should be checked for leak tightness. Once this is complete, refill the system with the quantity of refrigerant specified by the manufacturer and perform a pressure and functional test.
