ESP/ABS pilot lamp lights up

ESP/ABS pilot lamp lights up

If a customer complains about the above error, this could be caused by a corroded plug connection. Error codes C1140 (steering wheel angle sensor, incorrect signal) and C1145 (ABS wheel speed sensor VR, interruption) may occur.

In this case, proceed as follows:

1. Check connector pins 18, 19 and 20 (all three on the brake pressure sensor) of the plug connection on the ABS/ESP control unit (see Fig.); clean and dry if necessary. The control unit is located in the left side of the engine compartment in the control unit box behind the spring dome.

2. If damage is already severe, use the repair kit to replace the pins.

3. Treat the plug connection with electronic spray or grease before contacting.

4. Check the wiring harness of the brake pressure sensor for continuity. Max. resistance is 0.5 Ohm.
