Type: C320

Model year: 2000 to 2006

Battery discharge due to a too high idle current

The above vehicles can experience complete battery discharges caused by a malfunction in the seat adjustment control unit. An idle current (fault current) of up to 1,2amps could be measured in part.

The seat adjustment still partly functions.

One possible cause for this could be the seat adjustment control unit malfunction, located underneath the driver seat.

Impacting the fault cause could also be moisture penetration into the vehicle interior, in particular into the seat adjustment control unit. In particular instances, minor corrosion was identified in the connector area.

Note:

In this case, the fault cause was due to the seat adjustment control unit on the driver's side. For these malfunctions, the vehicle manufacturer recommends replacing both seat adjustment control units.
