Front Passenger Airbag is Disabled

If the problem described above is determined, the cause could be an assembly fault with the seat-occupant detection (weight sensing system).
In this case, the pressure hose for the seat-occupant detection system is kinked at a certain position of the front passenger seat.
This can lead to incorrect information (passenger is not detected) in the control unit and the passenger airbag is deactivated.
Remedy:
In an authorized specialist garage, check the assembly of the seat-occupant detection system and replace the pressure hose and the seat-occupant detection mat in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications, if necessary.
The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified owners of all models affected. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.
