Important safety note
Noise when engine is cold and outside temperature is low
With the above-mentioned vehicles, rattling, rather non-specific noises may occur when the engine is cold and the outside temperature is low. The noise disappears when operating temperature returns to normal.
In order to rule out other causes, the engine and transmission suspension and also other components (which could trigger the noise) should be inspected and checked. In addition, the error memory of the engine control unit is to be read out.
It is always advisable to contact a VW workshop when remedying such problems.
