If there are reports of the errors listed above, corroded ground points should be considered as potential causes.
The following combination of error codes could confirm that the error is a grounding error on the motor control unit or a grounding error at the "signal" transmitters.
Error code 'equivalent' to:
- 16485, 'Mass air flow sensor: implausible signal'.
- 16618, 'Boost pressure regulation: limit exceeded'.
- 18000, (P1592), 'Altitude sensor/boost pressure sensor: implausible correlation'
The corresponding signal values, such as on the boost pressure regulator or mass air flow sensor may be so distorted by the increased contact resistance values that the motor control unit does not regulate correctly (reduces performance).
To correct this, the grounding connections related to the motor control unit should be inspected in the water tank/bulkhead in the engine bay (on the left lengthwise cross member, between the headlamp and the battery). If necessary, these connections have to be removed, cleaned, screwed back on and protected from being corroded again (preservation wax).
The cap nuts on the ground pin have a tightening torque of 10 Nm.
