Noises / failure of the alternator
On the above mentioned vehicles, a faulty alternator free-wheeling clutch can result in the premature failure of the alternator.
A missing or faulty protective cap on the belt pulley with the free-wheeling clutch results in premature bearing wear. This problem mostly makes itself apparent with noises (caused by a faulty bearing).
To rectify the problem, the free-wheeling clutch or, if necessary, the alternator should be replaced.
Note: on fitting the alternator it is imperative you ensure the protective cap is present. This item is also available separately from the vehicle manufacturer under item no. 93167817.
