If there are complaints for these vehicles that noise is coming from the area of the air conditioning compressor, a possible cause is the air conditioning compressor pulley. To avoid possible misdiagnosis (e.g. compressor damage), check using a test belt (v-ribbed belt) to pinpoint the source of error. Test belt for the fault diagnosis: 6PK2315 / approx. 2315 mm.
Remove the original v-ribbed belt and attach the shorter v-ribbed test belt such that the air conditioning compressor pulley remains empty (see figure). Let the engine run and listen for the undesired noise. If the noise can no longer be heard in the area of the air conditioning compressor, install a new air conditioning compressor pulley. In addition, check the peripheral parts (belt tensioner, vibration damper, tensioning arm, tension roller, deflector, and guide roller) and replace if necessary. Finally, install the original v-ribbed belt and perform the final check.
