Seized up brakes and uneven or increased wear of the brake pads are frequent problems with brake systems that have Nirosta guide plates. One cause of this is dirt and corrosion which can accumulate below the plate (see picture). The result is that the guide plates curve upwards and then jam the brake pads.
The lack of free movement for the brake pads leads to thermal overload if the brakes are applied or not.
When maintenance work is carried out on the wheel brake, the contact surfaces on the calliper bracket have to be cleaned of dirt and corrosion and treated with corrosion protection. The guide plates also have to be greased.
We recommend using HELLA metal-free permanent lubricant for this. ( 8DX 355 370-011)
These installation instructions also apply to the following brake pads.
