If a customer complains about the above problem, this could be caused by a defective torque sensor. The customer notices this defect by an increased steering effort . In addition, the error codes C 1400 and C1413 (torque sensor, signal error, torque sensor, malfunction) may be stored. Before replacing the torque sensor, the connectors at the control unit of the electric power steering should be checked for proper seat (see illustration). The above problem may also be caused by a poor contact.
