Introduction of Guide 6 – What is it?
What is changing?
On 1.7.2023, guideline 6 was introduced, which prescribes a new procedure for the emission test for some vehicles. As part of the exhaust emission test (AU)/main inspection (HU), a particle measurement must now be carried out on all diesel vehicles from Euro 6/VI onwards.
The flue gas turbidity measurement (measurement of the absorption coefficient) that has been common up to now, as in Euro 4 and Euro 5 vehicles, is no longer sufficient.
Why is there a new AU guideline?
All vehicles with compression ignition engines (diesel engines) in the Euro 6/VI class are subject to the new AU guideline 6 and particle counting, as they have a particulate filter.
Whether and how efficiently the respective diesel particulate filter works can be determined in the future as part of the AU.
