Engine continues to run in "ignition position off"

On the vehicles mentioned above, the engine may continue to run even though the ignition starter switch is in the "off" position.

 

The engine can only be switched off by removing the ignition key. The following codes may be stored in the error memory of the multifunction control unit in connection with short-circuit or ground faults: B12E612 / B12E512 / B11A511.

 

A defective ignition lock may be causing the problem. To remedy this, the ignition lock should be replaced with a modified version (5Q0905849).
