Error code C0277 "Brake pedal sensor current circuit"

If the error above occurs and error code C0277 is read out of the Body Control Module (BCM) at the same time, the brake pedal position sensor could be a possible cause of the malfunction for this.

In this case, the installation position and the calibration of the pedal sensor must be checked.

After a removal or installation, or renewal of the brake pedal position sensor, a calibration must be carried out in BCM using an appropriate diagnostic unit. This procedure serves for determining the zero position of the sensor.

Calibration procedure

  • Actuate the parking brake
  • Set automatic transmission to "P" (if available)
  • Connect diagnostic tester, e.g., Mega Macs 66
  • Read-out and delete the error codes
  • Select the function basic setting "Teach brake pedal position"
  • Perform calibration

Note

If the defect continues to occur after this, the brake pedal position sensor must be replaced.

The vehicle manufacturer has already used

an improved sensor within the production.
