Condensation drain / various electrical faults

If there are any electrical faults in the above vehicles, these may be caused by a faulty or missing condensation drain.

Another cause may be an air distributor that was damaged during production.

A faulty drain may allow water to reach the BCM (Body Control Module), leading to the following faults:

  • Central locking system does not work
  • Wipers do not work
  • Horn activates itself
  • Engine will not start
  • Body systems do not work
  • Various fault codes

Proceed as follows to rectify the problem:

  • Check that the condensation drain is present and whether it is broken
  • If necessary, fit/replace the condensation drain
  • Check the air distributor housing for damage/traces of water and replace if necessary
  • Check the BCM for water ingress and corrosion and replace in the event of water ingress
  • Clear the fault memory
  • Carry out performance check
