Starter burnt inside

If this defect is found on the above mentioned vehicles, the problem may be related to a faulty ignition lock. The cause of this problem can be stiffness on the guide pin on the ramp in the ignition lock. In this case the ignition lock jams in the starting position. The starter "runs with the engine" and suffers thermal damage as a result.

In the case of starter damage the following work is to be undertaken:

  • Remove ignition lock
  • Check lock cylinder, oil
  • Check guide pin, grease
  • Check ignition starter switch

If mechanical defects are found during disassembly, the related parts are to be renewed.

On this aspect please follow the installation instructions from the vehicle manufacturer.
