Noises in the front area when manoeuvring

The following problem is observed on the vehicles mentioned above.

The noise may occur when manoeuvring the vehicle.

The cause was diagnosed as unwanted friction between the front suspension strut and the shock absorber bump stop.

Please proceed as follows to rectify the problem.

  • To access the shock absorber piston rod, lift the protective cover and bump stop upwards.
  • Thoroughly clean all contact surfaces and coat them with

silicone grease article no. G 000 405 A2  (only use the specified type of silicone grease), as marked in the image, to the contact surfaces between the shock absorber piston rod and the shock absorber bump stop

  • Assemble the dismantled parts in reverse order.
  • Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.

Finally a test drive should be performed to check the repair work.
