Shortly after having started the engine in the Jeep Compass, the engine may stop again in low outside temperatures

In the above-mentioned vehicles, the engine may cut out again shortly after starting at low outside temperatures (-10 °C). This is often the case when the vehicle has been parked overnight.

Particularly when it is operated for short distances, condensation accumulates in the exhaust system, which freezes at low outside temperatures and blocks the exhaust gas flow. This causes the engine to stop after starting.

To remedy this, drill a hole with a maximum depth of 25 mm and a diameter of 3 mm at the lower end of the rear silencer (see figure).  This ensures that the condensation water is drained.
