Refilling additional coolant oil for models older than 1996
- compressor failure

According to research results, a frequently-occurring early compressor failure is caused by the oil quantity filled by the plant. This oil quantity is too low to ensure sufficient lubricity of the system.

Ford recommends e.g., refilling approx. 60ml of oil during maintenance or minor repairs on the original air conditioning system. This quantity must be added before the system is filled with coolant. Ford's R134a systems can be distinguished from R12 systems by a special sticker on the underside of the motor hood and a beige-coloured ring on the low-pressure switch (see figures).
