Front headlamp goes out

On the vehicles mentioned above, customers have complained that the front headlamps fail while driving.

The reason for this problem is faulty software for the headlamp module.

If the headlamps fail while driving, the first steps to take are as follows:

  • Stop vehicle (caution: pay attention to traffic)
  • Switch off the ignition
  • Switch on the ignition and start the engine (the headlamps are reactivated)
  • If the headlamps fail again, repeat the process
  • Find a specialist garage immediately

The specialist garage will install a software update for the headlamp module and the BCM (body control module).

The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified the owners of all the affected models. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.
