Functional failure of the front headlamps

The complaint has been made that the front headlamps in the above vehicles experience a functional failure during operation.

The cause of this problem in this case is faulty software for the headlamp module.

Initial measures to take in the event of a headlamp failure while driving are the following:

  • Stop the vehicle (caution: take traffic conditions into account)
  • Switch off the ignition
  • Switch on the ignition and restart the engine (the headlamps will be reactivated)
  • Repeat the procedure as required if the headlamp failure reoccurs
  • Visit a specialist garage immediately

A software update for the headlamp module and the BCM (Body Control Module) will be performed at the specialist garage.

The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified the owners of the affected models. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.
