Fiat 500 X - squeaking noises

In the above-mentioned vehicles, squeaking noises may occur when braking, originating from the front of the vehicle. The noise occurs mainly when braking at low speed and until the vehicle comes to a standstill.

The cause may be the use of excess thread locking compound. The locking compound, applied between the steering knuckle and the support of the brake calliper on the front axle, prevents the components from fully being in contact with each other.

Take the following steps to rectify the problem:

  • Remove and discard the fastening screws of the front axle brake calliper carrier
  • Clean the contact surfaces of the steering knuckles and the brake calliper carrier
  • Insert new fastening screws with locking compound and tighten to the torque specified by the vehicle manufacturer
