Ignition switch stuck, damage to starter possible

The following problem is observed on the vehicles mentioned above.

When starting the vehicle, the ignition switch gets stuck in the start position. As a result of this malfunction, the starter pinion does not disengage and this can lead to damage (starter, sprocket, etc.).

A defective ignition switch was diagnosed as the cause.

Please proceed as follows to rectify the problem: Replace the defective ignition switch with a new one according to the manufacturer's specifications. Check the starter motor and peripherals (wiring harness etc.) for damage and replace or repair if necessary.

Finally a test drive should be performed to check the repair work.
