Coolant temperature warning lamp lights up

If the warning lamp for the coolant temperature lights up on the vehicles listed above, the cause may be a defective coolant sensor.

The formation of cracks in the coolant temperature sensor can cause the aforementioned error message. The error code P0116 (Temperature Sensor) may also be stored in error memory.

To remedy this, the temperature sensor should be replaced and filled with coolant and the cooling system should be vented. After doing this, clear the error memory.

This information also likely applies to other engine versions for the same vehicle type.
