Warning in the instrument cluster

(defect in electronic chassis).

Following a visit to a garage, the hazard warning light for the electronic chassis (adaptive air suspension) may come on in the instrument cluster. The error message may occur if the vehicle was raised on the lifting platform for a longer period of time.

The read-out of the control unit displayed the following fault codes: 00805, 00806, 00807, 00808,

indicative of: suspension strut valve, short-circuit to plus; suspension strut valve, interruption; short-circuit to earth; for front left / front right / rear left / rear right.

Inspection revealed the occurrence of a defect in the control valves. It is entirely possible that the defect (overload) is associated with the lifting of the vehicle. Before the vehicle equipped with adaptive air suspension is raised, jacking mode (service mode) must be activated on the main menu. If it is not, the air suspension system attempts to counteract the lifting forces with automatic control actions. This may result in an overload of the control valves.

Proceed as follows to activate jacking mode (service mode):

Switch the ignition on, in the MMI (Multi Media Interface) press the ‘CAR’ function key. ‘Adaptive air suspension’ appears in the menu. Now activate jacking mode via the ‘SETUP’ function key (a yellow indicator lamp comes on in the instrument cluster).

Jacking mode can be deactivated either by a setting in the MMI (Multi Media Interface) or by driving at speed of >15km/h.
