Engine control unit / malfunction
In vehicles with FSI motorisation, it is possible that water penetrates into the engine control unit through an inadequate seal. The resulting malfunction of the engine control unit may be lead to complete failure (breakdown of the vehicle). Affected units should be checked and replaced if necessary.
The vehicle manufacturer is already aware of the problem. Vehicles are checked and the engine control units are replaced as part of a service campaign.
Nevertheless, one may assume that for various reasons not all vehicles have been checked and repaired.
Please take this information into account if there are complaints in connection with the engine control unit/malfunctions.
