If the problem described above is determined, the cause could be an insufficiently secured steering column.
In this case, there is the possibility that the screw (see image) was not tightened to the specified tightening torque when the steering column was fitted.
This can lead to inconsistencies in the steering behaviour.
Remedy:
Have the vehicle checked immediately in an authorized specialist garage.
The tightening torque of the screw is checked and it is tightened to the correct tightening torque specified by the manufacturer (20Nm + 180°), if required.
The action is documented with a sticker and the lettering "45N7" in the area of the spare wheel well.
The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the issue and notified owners of all models affected. For various reasons, however, it must be assumed that not all vehicles have been checked or modified.
